Emerson Creek Wedding Events :: Emily and Justin

What a wonderful day to be photographing a beautiful couple in love at one of my favorite venues, Emerson Creek Wedding Events in Oswego. I met with Emily and Justin last fall for their engagement session and got to meet their beautiful furkids too. Being a dog lover myself we most definitely got along great! Emily and Justin wanted to have a more traditional wedding and did not want to see each other before the wedding ceremony, so we got creative with the timeline. We started with some getting ready details and pictures with Emily and her bridesmaids around the grounds of Emerson Creek. There are the amazing fields of corn and wildflowers and of course cute structures; like my favorite the tea room area that is filled with vintage and eclectic signs about love, farm, and barn life! We did an hour of pictures with her and the gals, and the pup aka flower girl before they had a break in the bridal coop to enjoy champagne and prepare for the ceremony while we did some picture time with Justin and the guys. Such fun!!

Justin’s sister Kathryn made the florals for the wedding day, such talent as they were lovely. I was happy to capture her pinning his flower on before pictures.

I asked Justin and Emily what their top favorite moment from the wedding day was, and Justin told me: ” Well I think everyone knows that one.  When the barn doors opened and my new wife was standing there in a white dress, walking towards ME.  I totally lost it. I know I made a really awkward crying noise when I felt an immediate lump in my throat when I saw her.  We didn’t talk or see each other on the day of so that moment meant all the more to me to finally get to see her and hold her hands.”

Let me tell you, there was hardly a dry eye in the room during these moments!! After the ceremony, we captured some quick family portraits, wedding party portraits and then had some time with just Emily and Justin for beautiful wedding portraits while everyone was at the cocktail hour.

Emily told me: “My favorite part of the wedding day was probably after the ceremony when we finally got to sit down for dinner and talk.  We were FINALLY married and could talk somewhat alone. I loved being able to see everyone that came out to our wedding to support and love us, eating dinner in one room together which will probably never happen again.  Families and friends from all different sides of the family, and even different states, all together! “

My favorite moment from the day, as the photographer, was taking this couple that was so full of love outside for some amazing photos with the evening sky. This wedding day had a big prediction for on and off rain, ALL DAY LONG. Everyone was ready for the rain with umbrellas and backup plans. Funny thing is it did not rain until I was leaving in my car for the night, but it did produce some really amazing clouds and sunset opportunities!! I was so happy that Emily and Justin were into it as much as we were – we went out a few time to capture some intimate incredible portraits that evening during the reception!

Emily and Justin also told me that they would tell other couples planning a wedding  “Not to stress about anything the day of! You can plan and prep for all the days before, but when you wake up that morning, just let it all go and try to focus on what (and who) is most important.  We don’t think we would really change anything about our wedding day.  It all went perfectly in our eyes.  Any hiccups along the way are just memories now that we will always laugh about.”
