Morton Arboretum Wedding :: Melissa and Kelvin

Melissa and Kelvin had a beautiful summer Morton Arboretum Wedding in the Thornhill building.

I adore Morton Arboretum Weddings and was sooooo excited for their wedding day to arrive, and it was a beautiful sunny day perfect for us to explore grounds of the arboretum, and even spot some of the “trolls” artist display this year. We started the day off with the bride and groom getting ready at the Thornhill building and had a romantic and private first look between the couple in the beautiful fragrance garden area before meeting up with the rest of the wedding party to tour the arboretum for some amazing photos! I had talked with Melissa about some areas that they liked and I also had some areas in mind as well, since I have been photographing at the arboretum for nearly 15 years and am a member as it is a beautiful location to photograph. I even did a college project on the 4 seasons of the arboretum!

Since you can only go one way on the roads, we started at the tall aspen trees, there were a couple pretty areas over there with great sunlight! From there we went to the main lake and the troll exhibit that I thought would be the most fun to photograph at, crushing a fun yellow car. On the way back to Thornhill for the ceremony I had noticed a bridge with beautiful yellow wild flowers and really wanted to see what we could create there. This would become my favorite image from the day, it is featured above. So romantic and pretty! We got back in time for a few more portraits in the gardens and then it was time to get married!! I was surprised to see my FAVORITE officiant Rev. Jim from Rent-a-Rev was going to be the one to marry this amazing couple. His ceremony services are always upbeat and fun, which helps with any jitter or nerves. After the ceremony and some family portraits it was time for dinner and dancing. What a great day!!
