I just LOVE shooting portraits of any kind at Fullersburg Woods Nature Center in Oak Brook. It is a magical place, with beautiful afternoon and evening light, a photographers dream. I was excited to be meeting Jordan and Kyle for the first time, they live in another state so we only had phone calls, and I was looking forward to meeting them and their pup Luna for an engagement session. It was a perfect evening, not too hot, actually a little chilly for mid June. Better a little chilly then too hot, IMO. We did some pictures with Luna, it was her first birthday and she would only sit still for a minute, typical one year olds. Then it was time for some fun and exploring with this sweet couple. I love this park as it has beautiful nature settings, but also some architectural elements to make portraits more interesting. Added bonus, it is generally quiet on the weekdays and was unusually quiet for this weekend evening, but that made it better for us! In fact, the wildlife loved it too. As we were following the trails and pretty sunlight we stumbled on a mama deer and her two fawns, we stayed quiet and got a couple quick pictures with them before they headed into the thick forest area for more protection. It was magical and a lucky sighting. It the last 14 years of photographing at this park I have never encountered deer while shooting portraits!
It was soooo much fun chatting and getting to know Jordan and Kyle a bit more, as well as capturing some beautiful portraits of them. I can not wait to photograph their wedding in 2021 at one of my Favorite venues, Emerson Creek!! Congratulations on your engagement and thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding memories!!
