Tania + Mike :: A Winter Engagement Session at the Chicago Garfield Park Conservatory { Chicago Engagement Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

I was excited to meet Tania and Mike at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago last weekend for their engagement session, we had become good friends on Facebook and planned a lot for this session via email – it was good to meet in person!! Planning a winter engagement session here in Chicago can be tough. The weather in Chicago from January thru March is SO unpredictable. We opted for a guarantee that we would have great photos and reserved a permit to shoot at the Garfield Park Conservatory. We got lucky and it was a warmer day (warmer- I mean 30 degrees, yes that is warm for Chicago winters, lol!!) and we had the opportunity to do a few photos outside of the conservatory as well. Tania and Mike are such a beautiful couple, it was nice to hear their story, get to know them better and hear about their wedding plans for their destination wedding in Mexico this coming April. Congratulations Tania and Mike!!

When I first met with Laura and John, I was very excited about their wedding plans. They decided to do things a little different, being Artists I wouldn’t expect anything less. Laura wore a green wedding dress ( her favorite color – and mine too- we are kindred spirits!) she traded a traditional bouquet in for a tin star lantern- uber cute! As well as opted for a eclectic Restaurant on the West side for their reception- SO MUCH FUN! I had a blast documenting their day – and this is a silly group – needless to say everyone was having a great time! We met at the Garfield Park Conservatory for some pre wedding photos, braved it outside for a few minutes and then headed to Assumption Church for the ceremony. After Church we toured the city for some photos, including Kinzie Bridge and the Dana Hotel before heading to Wishbone for the Party! What an amazing wedding – So much fun and such an extraordinary couple to dare to be different. Congratulations Laura and John, Thanks for letting me be a part of your amazing day!

Laura makes the cutest faces, add that with amazing light…love it!

Love all the little details – and the amazing invitation that John designed himself!

Julie + Ryan :: San Antonio Texas Engagement Session { Chicago Wedding Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

I had an amazing opportunity to meet one of my Chicago June 2011 wedding couples in Texas while I was there for an Engagement session. I had not met Julie and Ryan, we had only spoken on the phone a few times, I was super excited for their upcoming wedding at Danada House this June, but even more excited to get to know them a bit better before the wedding. We had an amazing time walking around Downtown San Antonio, exploring and finding some interesting places for photos. Here are some of my favorites!! Congratulations Julie and Ryan – I can’t wait for your wedding – it is going to be amazing!

I first met Cassie and Kurt over Thanksgiving weekend for their engagement session – a we were instant friends! I knew we would have a blast photographing their winter wedding a few days after Christmas. Cassie and Kurt were married on December 29th, 2010 at the historic and beautiful First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton by Kurt’s Father – Such an intimate and beautiful candle light wedding celebration. Chris and I met Kurt and Cassie at the Church for getting ready and the first look – followed by a adorable trolley ride to downtown Wheaton for some fun photos of the wedding party. Kurt and Cassie braved it in the chilly air and snow for some amazing pics!! Thanks goes out to the amazing Wedding Party for being so wonderful – even tho it was cold!! After Church we headed over to Arrowhead Golf Club for the party – everything was perfect- and if anyone deserved that it would be Cassie and Kurt. When we first met – over the phone due to the fact Cassie and Kurt live in California – they shared their story with me. They have been through so much as a couple and I was honored to be there to capture these special memories and emotional moments thought the night. So much laughter and a few tears – but all in celebration of this lovely couple!! Congratulations Cassie and Kurt!! I wish you much happiness as you continue your journey together!

Sherri + Danny :: Engaged!! { Downers Grove Wedding Photography :: Laura Meyer }

I was SO EXCITED to get a call on December 23rd in the morning from my good friend Danny – he asked me to take his GF out for a holiday after work cocktail (Something Sherri and I enjoy doing on occasion:) and he was going to organize a fabulous proposal of marriage followed by a fun party of his nearest and dearest family and friends. Danny was hoping I could be sly enough to grab a few photos of everything – geeezzzz was I nervous. Not nervous that I was going to do a bad job – but nervous that the fact I had my “good” camera out for cocktail hour would be a big RED FLAG to Sherri that something was up. Luckily- I came up with this story about how I was searching for a neat indoor location for a photo shoot of a couple this winter (which is half true, lol) and I wanted to test the camera out in low light at this fabulous wine bar in Downers Grove call the Cellar Door. I had my camera out on the bar – snapped some photos – and enjoyed some great wine with a good friend. Danny joined us we chatted for a bit and finally Sherri departed to use the ladies room – so the time had come to get ready for the big moment. Some of their family and friends were at the bar across the street waiting for a phone call – to watch the action from the window and then come inside for a celebration toast. Everything was perfect – and of course Sherri said yes!! So excited for their upcoming spring wedding!! Congratulations Sherri and Danny!! Here are some of my favorites, Enjoy!!

Needless to say we had a great time celebrating with Sherri and Danny at the bar across the street!! What a great night!!

Sara & Andrew :: A Winter Wedding at the Hinsdale Golf Club :: { Oak Brook Wedding Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

Sara and Andrew were married on December 18, 2010 at the beautiful St Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest. I was excited to go to their wedding as a second shooter for my good friend Deonna Caruso, as I only get to second shoot once in a great while, it was fun to hang out with the guys pre ceremony, as typically I am with the Bride. I met up with Andrew at his parents house in Hinsdale for some getting ready photos and a fun bow tie competition – who could tie the best looking bow tie. We did a few photos, then off to the church. St Vincent Ferrer is such a beautiful historic church in the western suburbs of Chicago. I had fun capturing some amazing pre ceremony moments before it was time to walk down the aisle. After Church we stopped by Midwest Club for some fun outdoor photos with some amazing snowflake decor. It was SOOOO COLD!! We decided to head over to the Hinsdale Golf Club early for more indoor photos before the party began. Some amazing details, fun moments and great dancing was to be had. What a fun event! Congratulations Andrew and Sara!

Emily & Matt :: A Beautiful Winter Wedding in Chicago :: { Chicago Wedding Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

I was really excited for Emily and Matt’s winter wedding this past weekend, I knew we would have a blast documenting the day and the details. We started out the day with preparation, Deonna, my fabulous second shooter with the guys at the Condo and myself with the gals at the fabulous Sofitel Hotel. Everyone was having a great time in the beautiful presidential suite, so much emotion was present as Emily prepared with her best friends and family for the ceremony that was quickly approaching. Before we knew it, the time had come to depart to the historic holy family parish for the evening wedding ceremony. What a beautiful church, one of the prettiest churches in all of Chicago – perfect for this amazing couple! After a few family church photos we were off to Cafe Bauer in Lincoln Park for an elegant reception filled with warm toasts and fun dancing! Right before it was time for us to leave, the snow we had been waiting for all day finally arrived – perfect timing!!! Jack (The videographer) and I braved it outside for some amazing wintry portraits of the happy couple! Thanks Jack for letting me steal some light from your video lights, lol! Congratulation Emily and Matt – I wish you much happiness as you start your journey together!

Last weekend I met with Cassie and Kurt for their engagement session and pre wedding consultation. I was excited to meet them as we had only spoken on the phone. Being from LA I decided that we should go to this fabulous location that reminded me of a surf shack for some oh-so-cute engagement photos and then brave the windy city shore line for some fabulous sunset skyline shots. Despite being a bit chilly, the weather was perfect, and the sunset was amazing! I had such a great time getting to know Cassie and Kurt who are the sweetest couple ever, I am so excited for their wedding later in December. Here are a few of my favorites…enjoy!

I had the most amazing time at Dana and Brian’s wedding celebration at the Double Tree Hotel in Skokie (Chicago’s North Shore) this past Saturday. We arrived for getting ready photos and wedding party photos of Dana and Brian separately before the ceremony. It was so wonderful to have everyone in the same hotel for the photos, we were able to capture so much in such a relaxed environment. I have to thank the girls for braving the chilly fall air for some outdoor pics. Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony, a few photos after the ceremony and then time to party!! The receptions was beautiful, decorated with flower accents by Fleur and amazing cake design by Rolf’s Patisserie great tunes played by Toast and Jam everything was perfect, classic and elegant. As soon as dinner was over, it was time to let your hair down and party! There were a mix of Jewish and Latin traditions, creating a fun theme and great photos ops. The dance floor became a “photo booth” for Chris and I, as guests could choose from a big basket of party favors and fun props. This made for an extremely entertaining Horah…followed by dancing..dancing and more dancing….everyone was having an incredible time!! I have to give a big thank you to Hilary from Esetra Events who helped keep everything running so smoothly, Dana and Brian didn’t have to worry about a thing. What a fun Wedding!! Dana and Brian, thank you for letting us capture your special day…here are some of my favorites…enjoy!!
