Tania + Mike :: A Winter Engagement Session at the Chicago Garfield Park Conservatory { Chicago Engagement Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

I was excited to meet Tania and Mike at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago last weekend for their engagement session, we had become good friends on Facebook and planned a lot for this session via email – it was good to meet in person!! Planning a winter engagement session here in Chicago can be tough. The weather in Chicago from January thru March is SO unpredictable. We opted for a guarantee that we would have great photos and reserved a permit to shoot at the Garfield Park Conservatory. We got lucky and it was a warmer day (warmer- I mean 30 degrees, yes that is warm for Chicago winters, lol!!) and we had the opportunity to do a few photos outside of the conservatory as well. Tania and Mike are such a beautiful couple, it was nice to hear their story, get to know them better and hear about their wedding plans for their destination wedding in Mexico this coming April. Congratulations Tania and Mike!!

I had an amazing opportunity to meet one of my Chicago June 2011 wedding couples in Texas while I was there for an Engagement session. I had not met Julie and Ryan, we had only spoken on the phone a few times, I was super excited for their upcoming wedding at Danada House this June, but even more excited to get to know them a bit better before the wedding. We had an amazing time walking around Downtown San Antonio, exploring and finding some interesting places for photos. Here are some of my favorites!! Congratulations Julie and Ryan – I can’t wait for your wedding – it is going to be amazing!

Last weekend I met with Cassie and Kurt for their engagement session and pre wedding consultation. I was excited to meet them as we had only spoken on the phone. Being from LA I decided that we should go to this fabulous location that reminded me of a surf shack for some oh-so-cute engagement photos and then brave the windy city shore line for some fabulous sunset skyline shots. Despite being a bit chilly, the weather was perfect, and the sunset was amazing! I had such a great time getting to know Cassie and Kurt who are the sweetest couple ever, I am so excited for their wedding later in December. Here are a few of my favorites…enjoy!

A couple weeks ago, on a beautiful fall Monday morning, I met with James and Paula in Lincoln Park for their engagement session. I had never done a morning engagement session in the beautiful Lincoln Park area, so I was really excited. We had amazing sunlight, warm weather and because it was a Monday, very little crowds – a perfect combo for amazing photos. We explored the Zoo area, walked the new nature boardwalk, and enjoyed the fantastic fall colors – and got to know each other better – having so much fun! Paula and James are such a sweet couple, I am so excited for their wedding next year!

It was a perfect Sunday afternoon for Christine and Chris’s engagement session in Chicago. We met up a the Wrigley building for some fabulous river and architecture pics, before a quick change of clothes and a little exploring of Millennium Park. The fall foliage and colors in the gardens was AMAZING! So romantic and pretty! Christine and Chris are the sweetest couple, I had a great time getting to know them better and talking about the big day. I am super excited for their wedding next year!!

Last week I had an amazing time walking around Lincoln Park with Lauren and Jason for their engagement session. It was an amazing October afternoon, fabulous late afternoon sunlight, amazing weather, plus a super sweet couple = an afternoon full of great photos! I had a blast exploring the newer structures at Lincoln Park, including the new Boardwalk and “honeycomb” sculpture at the park. We had some fun playing in all the fall leaves, smiles and laughter all around. I am so excited to be a part of Jason and Lauren’s wedding this coming July, I know it will be amazing!!

On Sunday September 26, 2010 I was sent on a mission…to photograph a live proposal of marriage between Craig and Jen in the early morning hours on a brisk Fall day. I was SO excited, and a bit nervous. This was my first time photographing a live proposal, something I have wanted to do for a while. I waited for Jen and Craig to arrive. While I had spoken to Craig several times on the phone to arrange all the details of the day, we had never officially met. Sunday morning was a bit chilly, there were very few people walking about in the Lincoln park area…making me nervous that Jen would spot me and the surprise would be ruined. Luckily, about five minutes before they arrived another photographer came and was photographing a family session right by my bench. Perfect, a distraction! I saw Jen and Craig walking down the sidewalk towards “the spot” and it totally looked like I was photographing the children too! Although really I was shooting with my long lens right over the kids heads (of course telling dad what I was doing, as to not make them nervous) and grab some terrific shots. Jen Said YES!! Kisses and phone calls were had, and I was introduced…so much laughing and what fun! We headed into the Lincoln Park Conservatory for a “real” engagement session, a special place to Jen and Craig as it was the spot of their first date. There was so much love and energy radiating from this happy couple, it was pure magic. I had an amazing time photographing this beautiful couple, during such a special time in their lives. Thank you Jen and Craig for inviting me to photograph your engagement. I wish you both the best as you continue to plan for your big day, and congratulations on your engagement!!!

Susan & Milan :: A Chicago Summer Engagement Session { Chicago Wedding Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

I was super excited to meet Milan and Susan for the first time at their engagement session this August, we had spent a lot of time talking about their upcoming September wedding on the phone, but it is not the same as spending face time with someone. The weather was absolutely perfect, a quite and wonderful Sunday Summer evening in Chicago. We choose to walk around Millennium Park for the session, mixing urban and beautiful nature settings….but also having a bit of fun! Everything was amazing, I learned all about Milan’s fabulous hockey team, got to know Milan and Susan as a couple…they couldn’t be more sweet, a match made in heaven!! We talked all about the wedding and details…which got me super excited for the big day only a few weeks from today! I had the most amazing time photographing Danielle and Bill’s engagement session in August. Altho, I think we might have picked the hottest evening of the entire summer to have the session, it did not stop us from laughing and having a blast! You can really feel the connection between Danielle and Bill, as they teased each other, laughed, snuggled and expressed their love… you can feel the heat between them…lol! I had so much fun exploring the downtown Naperville area with Danielle and Bill, and I am soooo excited for their wedding this coming October!!

Dana & Mike :: Millennium Park Chicago Engagement Session :: { Chicago Wedding Photographer :: Laura Meyer }

Dana and Mike are the sweetest couple ever, we met up in Millennium Park for their engagement session just as it started to drizzle, but that didn’t stop us from getting some great photos around the park. We started in the heart of Millennium Park, at the famous Bean and then walked over the the Art Institute Gardens for some fun photos in the quiet and amazing gardens. Our session was cut short, due to half of the park being unexpectedly closed and less then desirable weather. Thanks Mike and Dana for being so patient and so understanding. We are going to do a mini session continuation this fall….which will give a nice mix of photos. Here are some of my favorites from the city session. I look forward to doing a few more pics in the fall as well as capturing the big day next year!!
