Winter Wonderland!!!!

00051 Saturday, February 21st:  I ventured the 2 hour drive to Milwaukee to shoot Lynn and Jim’s wedding with Deonna Caruso Photography in a winter wonderland. Milwaukee transformed into something that resembled the north pole…but it did not stop us from capturing some fabulous outdoor portraits of the happy couple. Lynne and Jim are such a super smiley, extremely happy couple…so much laughter all day long…..it was such a pleasure to be a part of their wedding and  to spend time getting to know them both.  Here are some of my favorites!!

WPPI Convention In Las Vegas

dsc_2682

Las Vegas is a crazy town!! After 36 hours of road-tripping our last stop landed us in Las Vegas for WPPI Convention (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International). WPPI was awesome! Basically it is a GIANT trade show of Album vendors and all kinds of “behind the scene products” that photographers use in the studio. There are also fabulous speakers talking about new ideas, and lets not forget the opportunity to hang out with photographers from around the country and the globe. I went to all kids of events and parties hosted by various vendors with my photographer buddies Christina, Laura and Crystal.  The photo above was taken at the Fiano VIP Party from an awesome suite in the MGM Grand. I am super excited to be offering Finao One albums to clients this year and will have my sample album by June!

Yes, I purchased M&M’s in my Photography Signature Brand Colors!! They were yummy:)

Opening night kick off of WPPI. A renewal of vows ceremony at the MGM. Two photographers renewed their wedding vows for their 10 year anniversary.  4 photographers documented the ceremony in different ways. Talk about nerves…..I would be so nervous photographing in front of hundreds of other professionals!! Technology is awesome, after a little delay the images would project onto big screens so we could see their photos, it was pretty cool.

dsc_2372

I am in Las Vegas, and totally behind on my blog entries, so I am condensing the last few days into four blog posts. I flew into Las Vegas on Friday morning and met Laura and Crystal for the first time and rented a convertible and off on a road trip we went exploring the desert and Rt 66 and the major destination…the Grand Canyon.

LMP is a 2009 Bridal Choice Award Winner!! I want to THANK YOU for making this happen!!

bca-header

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Laura Meyer Photography has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Laura Meyer Photography is one of the very best Chicago area wedding photographers.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Laura Meyer Photography would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!

Stephanie and Blair…..time to kick off the 2009 wedding season!!

teddybear_triptic_sm

Saturday February 7th marked my first wedding of 2009. I joined Deonna Caruso as a second photographer for Stephane and Blair’s wedding event. I got to hang out with the guys pre-ceremony before heading over the the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling for the ceremony and reception. It was a beautiful day for a wedding, sunny and a hair under 60 degrees….a change from the negative temps we have been having here in Chicago.  The ring bearer and flower girl were so cute….I had to grab a bunch of pics of them….we had fun playing or rather hunting with our cameras, shooting everything….I see a photographer in the future! His camera was so cute, small and of course my all time favorite color….green!!

A trip to California

00011

I recently came home from attending a Photo-Biz boot camp in Benicia California (45minutes outside of San Fransisco). Liana Lehman was the instructor, it was fabulous….we stayed in this little town at the Union Hotel, a quaint B&B and enjoyed hot breakfast everyday. I only had the opportunity to take a few pictures, here are some of my favorites. On the last day we did a “shoot out” and took new head shots of each other. I will be posting those pics tomorrow.
