WHY: So….What is boudoir??
Boudoir is French for a woman’s bedroom or a private sitting room. LMP Boudoir Sessions typically take place in a hotel room or other intimate setting. This allows us  to create classy images that can be soft, romantic, and sexy.. The main focus of a boudoir photographer is to capture you in the most flattering way by guiding you through the poses that compliment your body type.

Nimisha and Shibu are Married!! :: Chicago Wedding Photographer

firstlookNimisha and Shibu were married after Christmas on a beautiful snowy late December afternoon in the Northern Suburbs. I was excited to photograph their Catholic-Indian Wedding and reception with the talented Ian from Wedding Story Studio. The happy couple did their “first look” at the Bahai Temple and then we did bridal party and some beautiful and intimate photos of the couple.

The rest of the afternoon I spent with Shibu, the groom, and his family. Everyone was in such great spirits at Shibu’s Parents house…preparing for the ceremony. The house was full of family, laughing and celebrating this special day. Before we departed for the ceremony, their was a blessing, the whole family gathered around Shibu in the final moments he was to be a single man. The ceremony was Held at St John Breeuf Catholic Church in Niles. It was a wonderful service with many traditional Indian and Catholic events, including Trying of the Thali and Veiling of the Manthrakodi which is the wedding sari that the grooms family gives the bride.

The Reception was held at Chateau Ritz in Niles were there we again a mix of traditional American and Indian rituals including Nada Vili (a traditional was of cheering for the couple after the wedding) and Vellakku Kathikkal (Lighting of the lamp symbolizing the commitment of the B&G to bring god into their life), to name only a few that I included in my post. It was a great wedding, lots of smiles and fun being had by the couple and all of the guests. Here are my favorites, congratulations Shibu and Nimisha!!

We started with getting ready photos and then headed up to Lincoln Park for the Church ceremony, then explored Michigan ave for some Pretty lights and romantic pics of the happy couple before heading back the the beautiful Drake for the reception. Carissa and Matt are Engaged :: Chicago Wedding Photographer

LMP-41This post is right in time for the holidays, and editing their session today put me in the holiday spirit. Carissa and Matt had a very fun and festive engagement session downtown in Chicago. We explored the streets, visited the big tree in Daley center and other festively decorated parks.  We got lucky to find this hilarious group of about 50 Santas and elves that were out parading the streets  and parks celebrating the holiday spirit.  I did have to embarrass this super sweet – and slightly on the shy side -  couple by announcing their engagement via one Santa’s megaphone …that got the Santa’s going ( I think some of them may have dipped into the holiday egg nog pre-parade, lol;) These are my favorite shots from the day, too funny!! You can just feel the laughter :) )) Happy Holidays and Congratulations Carissa and Matt, I look forward to your spring wedding next March!!

Nicole and Jason are Engaged!! :: A Philadelphia Engagement Session

LMP-103In mid November I took a small trip to Philly and met Nicole and Jason for an engagement session. I had so much fun photographing in a city I did not know, it was both exciting and challenging.  We explored, on foot and the subway, a handful of the sweet photo spots for some unique and creative portraits. We had a beautiful day, 70 degrees in November and fantastic sunshine that really showed off the last of the fall colors. We started on South street, which is the neighborhood that Nicole and Jason live in, from there we walked towards the city center, finding all kinds of interesting spots along the way. Of course we also had to hit the historic city hall and the famous Love Sculpture…Philly trademarks!   I could not ask for a better day or a better couple!! Here are some of my favorites.  Congratulations Nicole and Jason, best wishes for your wedding next July!

Penny and David are Married!! :: Chicago Wedding Photographer

pennydavid_01Penny and David were married on November 7, 2009 on a beautiful fall day…mild temperature and not a cloud in the sky! I had a great time with Photographing Penny and David’s wedding day, we had a lot of time for some amazing portraits and traveled all over the St Charles and Batavia area getting a lot of the photos finished before the ceremony, taking advantage of the great sunlight.  It made for some unbelievably beautiful photos. Then we headed to the church for an intimate ceremony, followed by some more fun and candid photos of Penny and David at Walter Payton’s Round House in Aurora, of course then it was time for the party!! I had a blast documenting this day full of smiles and love, Congratulations Penny and David!!

Giving is Awesome!!

I am very thankful this year to be doing what I love with my life. As a way to give back to the wonderful people who make this possible I wanted to do something special this holiday season, reach out to someone in need and give the the gift of photos. Please read on below to find out what LMP is sharing this holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving, have a safe and enjoyable weekend!!

top

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $500 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $100 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in the Chicago Metro Area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : laura@laurameyerphotography.com.

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Laura

Ashley and Vinnie are Married!! Part One of Two :: October 31 :: Chicago Wedding Photographer

ashleyvinnie_pumpkinAshley and Vinnie were married on October 31st, 2009. A Halloween wedding, so much fun!! We had great weather for photos, although the wind that morning made us all a little nervous, by the afternoon the sun was out and the weather was very nice! We started out by taking getting ready photos of the gals at the Marriott in Downers Grove before heading over the the Church in Berwyn. The church had the most amazing afternoon light, a wedding photographer dream, made  for some really beautiful available light photos. After the ceremony we headed out to my secret location at Fullersburg woods for Bridal Party photos. This was a fun and HUGE bridal party….and they were up for anything! The reception was at the Abbington In Glen Ellyn, this group was ready for a party!! We had great music by Twilight Party Rentals (my friends Steve and Chris did a great job!!) the dance floor was never empty and everyone wanted their photo taken. We had so much fun dancing,  and taking photos of all the fabulous guests having a great time. Thanks to my fabulous second shooter Deonna for all her amazing help….here are some of my favorites from the day. Congratulations Ashley and Vinnie!!
